The most common thing you will be doing with polynomials is to simplify the polynomials. To simplify a polynomial, we need to do two things: 1) combine like terms, and 2) rearrange the terms so that they're written in descending order of exponent.
Like terms are terms that have the same variable(s) raised to the same power(s).
