Middle School Writing

Middle School Writing is a writing program that helps Grade 6, 7, and 8 students to improve their writing skills from the fundamentals of writing to paragraph writing, and eventually to advanced essay writing.

The program is divided into 3 levels.

It teaches the fundamentals of writing such as: sentences vs. fragments, subjects and predicates, subject-verb agreement, and capitalization. It also teaches the technical parts of writing such as comma and semi-colon placement, compound sentences, words often confused, and capitalization. These are the areas where many young and creative writers often need reinforcement.

Middle School Writing Level 2 focuses on paragraph writing and simple essay writing. In this phase, students work on developing clear and precisely written paragraphs on a variety of topics. They create topic sentences, details, and closing sentences. They write expository, narrative, and descriptive paragraphs. Then students learn structures that help them express themselves in writing narrative and expository essays. With writing assignments such as .please describe the most exciting trip that you.ve ever taken., this phase of the "Middle School Writing" program will strengthen student.s ability to write a well structured effective essay.

Middle School Writing Level 3 focuses on transitioning students from simple, structured essay writing to advanced essay writing. This phase helps students find their voice and produce essays that match style and media. It will teach students such skills as story and logic in narrative and expository essays, sentence variety and strong vocabulary, writing to persuade, writing to inform, blog writing, as well as script writing.
